There are many different types of depression and the definition of depression will vary depending on the type, the age and gender of the individual. It also varies by characteristics, severity and duration of symptoms. Depressive disorders, in general, come in many different "shapes and sizes" and one size does not fit all.
Clinical depression is a broadly used term. However it is really a specific type that requires clinical diagnosis.
Here is a list of some common forms of depression. However, keep in mind this is not all inclusive. To learn more about each of them simply click on the link and it will take you to another page with more details of that specific type of depressive disorder.
If you came to this page because you think you might be depressed, you can take a depression test. This is a test designed to give you an indicator as to whether you're depressed and it's based on the diagnostic tool we use, the DSM-V, to diagnose clients. However, with that said, this test shouldn't be used as a way to self-diagnose.
If the test shows that you're depressed, seek a professional diagnosis by a mental health professional. Together you can come up with a treatment plan that will help you get back on track.
And, of course let's not forget.......
And there are many others as well.
Now, keep in mind, if you are depressed you may simply have a form of mild depression
Either way, if you are feeling depressed, research the different types via the the links provided. I will show you the different types, their symptoms, warning signs etc. This will help you narrow it down, to determine which form of depression you might have.
In addition to reading about the symptoms and warning signs, you can also take a depression test here on my site for more information.
